The Sesame Manufacturing team is looking for a candidate who is skilled at working in a fast-paced, dynamic engineering environment. This role will report to the Managing Director and requires an analytical approach to problem solving with strong lean manufacturing and project management skills, and experience working with mechanical and hydraulic systems. Working directly with build, design, and site teams, as well as clients the Service Manager will reduce the amount of non-value added activities and standardise processes in the lead up to and successful execution of servicing of Sesame Access products. The primary responsibilities of the Service Manager shall be divided between the main Sesame workshop, and on job-sites as follows:
Sesame workshop:
Communicate issues found on site and work directly with build teams and head engineer to identify problem areas in manufacturing. Perform RCA and facilitate action plans to methodically remove wasteful activities and standardise processes. This will also involve working with engineering and support teams up-stream from manufacturing, and management to support change(s)
Identify and act upon areas for improvement in instruction and SWIS documentation
Work with purchasing and design teams to improve and standardise R&I and FAI processes
Report generation and presentation of data to all key stakeholders (VSMs, A3, RACI etc.) to create buy-in, track progress (Kanban), and present tangible savings
Work with clients, architects, and contractors to schedule servicing of Sesame disabled access lifts in commercial, residential, and heritage listed properties throughout the U.K., Europe, and globally
Work with clients, architects, and contractors to arrange the sale of service contracts
Site based:
Perform preventive maintenance and attend callouts of Sesame lifts. Identify non-conforming parts and work with internal teams to do RCA and eliminate issues
Work with installation teams for early identification of risks originating both internally and externally, and take steps to methodically remove the items that introduce variability in performance (FMEA, SWOT, etc.)
Identify trends in component performance and life cycle(s). Identify areas for improvement within servicing team and feedback to manufacturing and design teams to future proof design and manufacturing activities
Other duties include (but are not limited to): Cross training & coaching, technical product support, S&OP document review & generation, capacity planning, forecasting, internal process auditing, et al.
Qualifications
Training in an engineering discipline (mechanical, industrial)
Experience working with mechanical and hydraulic systems
Experience in an industrial engineering role
Experience working on construction sites
Experience managing projects and teams both in person and remotely
Lean Six Sigma (green belt level or higher)
Excellent time management and organisation skills
Strong interpersonal and team building skills – (conflict resolution, generating buy-in, etc.)
