As an Export Champion, Sesame was invited to meet Connor Burns MP, Minister of State for International Trade. Minister Burns was newly appointed to his Ministerial role when Boris Johnston became Prime Minister in July 2019.
The purpose of the meeting was for Minister Burns to talk to companies about the business challenges they were facing against the backdrop of Brexit. Minister Burns was keen to investigate how Department of International Trade (DIT) could better help UK Companies to Export.
Alison Lyons, Director of Commercial Development, Sesame Access said "It was a very productive meeting. The twenty or so companies who attended this event had similar concerns, ranging from : visas for qualified staff, UK exchange rates, support from UK banks, R&D tax credit speed of payments, mentoring on technical export issues such as licencing UK products overseas etc. We also discussed the positive effect UK Export Finance is having on supporting exports, and the potential of Free Ports in the UK".
Alison Lyons was appointed as an Export Champion for the Department of International Trade (DIT) in 2019, to help encourage other UK Companies to export under the DIT 'If We Can, You Can' Campaign.
