Sesame employee appointed as an Export Champion 2019 for Government

Alison Lyons, Director of Commercial Development for Sesame Access, has been appointed as a 2019 Export Champion by The Department For International Trade (DIT).

Export Champions are chosen by DIT as individuals who have a track record in winning new international business and are dedicated to further growing their export portfolio. Export Champions make a commitment to helping other UK companies do the same - increasing prosperity and growing Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by seizing the opportunities offered by trading in a global market, particularly against the backdrop of Brexit.

Alan Pain, Deputy Director, DIT : UK Regions says "Our Export Champions are a group of hand-picked successful exporters who are already working with DIT to take their product and services to customers worldwide. We are hugely grateful for their commitment to share their experience and encourage others to either export for the first time or grow their overseas sales. Export Champions not only reflect the strengths, skills, capability and resilience of UK Business, they also demonstrate the commitment of these amazing individuals and their companies in supporting economic growth."

Alison Lyons, Sesame's Director of Commercial Development says "I am really proud to have been chosen as an Export Champion by the Government. At Sesame, we have great fun exporting and its much easier than we first anticipated. DIT have given us lots of assistance over the years with export planning, researching new export markets, customs legislation, export risk management etc and we would like to share our experience with other UK companies. Brexit is a worrying time for all, but looking at the upside, a drop in sterling will make our UK bespoke wheelchair lifts cheaper for our overseas Clients, so now is a perfect time to market internationally".

Sesame designs, builds and installs bespoke invisible wheelchair access lifts for Listed Buildings. Clients include Bank of England, Sydney Opera House, Kensington Palace and Qatar National Library. Sesame won The Queens Award for Enterprise in Innovation in 2016.
